What are brown sofas?

Sofas in a warm brown colour. At Furniture Instore they come in three materials — fabric, genuine leather and Leather Aire — and in traditional, manual recliner and electric recliner styles, as armchairs, 2 and 3 seaters and matching sets. Brown is a classic, versatile colour that hides everyday marks well.

What material are the sofas — fabric, genuine leather or Leather Aire?

All three, and we keep them distinct so you always know what you're buying. Some are genuine leather, a natural hide that ages to a patina; some are Leather Aire, a leather-look material with a wipe-clean finish that isn't genuine leather and which we never call faux; and some are warm, hard-wearing fabric, kept distinct from velvet, suede and leather. The material of each sofa is stated on its product page.

What is the difference between genuine leather, Leather Aire and fabric?

Genuine leather is a natural hide — breathable, long-lasting and full of character, at a higher price. Leather Aire gives a similar leather look with a wipe-clean surface, easy care and a lower price. Fabric is warm and soft to sit on, cosy and cleaned by vacuuming and spot-cleaning. Which suits you comes down to the look, your budget and how you like to clean.

Are the sofas recliners or traditional?

Both. Some brown sofas are traditional, fixed-frame sofas with no reclining mechanism — simple and dependable. Others are recliners, in either manual or electric form. Each product page shows whether a sofa is traditional or a recliner, so you can choose the comfort that suits you.

Are the recliners manual or electric?

Both are available. A manual recliner tilts back using a side handle or lever, with nothing to plug in. An electric recliner reclines at the touch of a button and needs a mains socket nearby, giving effortless, adjustable comfort. Each product page states which type it is so you can choose the one that suits you.

What sizes and sets are available?

A single armchair, a 2 seater and a 3 seater, plus matching sofa set combinations such as 3+2, 2+2, 3+1+1 and 3+2+1, with more besides. Smaller sizes suit compact rooms, while the larger sets suit busy family spaces — a 3+1+1 pairs a sofa with two individual chairs. Check the product grid above for what's currently in stock.

How much space does a recliner sofa need?

Because a recliner tilts back and extends a footrest, leave clearance behind the sofa for the backrest and in front for the footrest, and keep an electric model within reach of a mains socket. Each product page lists the dimensions so you can plan the space, including the room it needs when fully reclined. Traditional sofas need only their own footprint.

How do I care for a brown sofa?

It depends on the material. For genuine leather, wipe with a slightly damp cloth and condition occasionally. For Leather Aire, simply wipe clean and dry — no conditioning needed. For fabric, vacuum regularly and blot spills promptly. For all three, avoid harsh chemical cleaners and abrasive sponges, and keep the sofa out of prolonged direct sunlight.

Why choose a brown sofa?

Brown is warm, classic and versatile, working with almost any scheme, and it pairs especially well with wood tones and warm neutrals. It's practical too, hiding everyday marks well, which makes it a low-maintenance choice for a busy room. From rich chocolate to warm tan, a brown sofa brings a cosy, grounded feel to a space.

What is your returns policy?

We offer a 14-day change of mind returns window from the day your sofa is delivered, on items returned in their original condition. To arrange a return, contact our team within those 14 days and we'll talk you through the next steps. This is in addition to your statutory rights, which cover goods that are faulty or not as described.

What happens if my sofa arrives damaged?

If your sofa arrives with any damage, contact our team as soon as possible — ideally within 48 hours — with a few photographs, and we'll arrange a repair, replacement or collection. It helps to check the sofa over on delivery before the team leaves where you can, and to test any recline.

Do I need to assemble the sofa myself?

There's very little to do. Our two-person team brings the sofa into your room, connects any sections and fits any feet on-site, so it's ready to use, and a powered recliner simply plugs into a mains socket. Larger sets arrive in pieces that link together, with no tools needed.

What guarantee comes with these sofas?

Every sofa is inspected before it leaves us, and your purchase is protected by your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which cover goods that are faulty or not as described. You also have our 14-day change of mind returns. For confirmation of any specific manufacturer guarantee on a particular model, please check the product page or ask our team before you order.
