What is a Foster fabric electric recliner sofa?

A powered reclining sofa from Furniture Instore, upholstered in a soft, hard-wearing woven fabric. Each seat reclines at the push of a button, and the range comes in brown, grey, dark grey and light grey, as an armchair, 2 seater or 3 seater and in matching sets such as 2+1, 2+2, 3+2+1 and 3+3.

What material is the Foster sofa — is it leather?

No. Foster sofas are upholstered in a woven fabric, a hard-wearing upholstery fabric chosen for everyday durability and comfort. It's a fabric, kept distinct from other finishes: it isn't a plush velvet, a brushed suede, or a smooth leather or leather-look material. It's warm to sit on and practical for family use.

Are the recliners manual or electric?

Electric. Each seat reclines using a button or handset rather than a manual handle, so you can stop at any position that suits you. Because the recline runs on a motor, the sofa needs to sit within reach of a mains socket, and it simply plugs in on delivery.

What colours are available?

Four: a warm brown and three greys — grey, dark grey and light grey. Brown pairs naturally with wood tones and neutral schemes, while the greys give a cool, contemporary look, from a soft light grey through to a deep dark grey. Check the product grid above for current stock in each colour.

What sizes and combinations are available?

You can choose a single recliner armchair, a 2 seater or a 3 seater, or matching sofa set combinations such as 2+1, 2+2, 3+2+1 and 3+3, with more layouts besides. Smaller sizes suit compact rooms, while the larger sets give a busy family several reclining seats. Check the product grid above for what's currently in stock.

How do I clean and care for a fabric recliner sofa?

Vacuum weekly on a low setting or with an upholstery brush to lift dust and crumbs, and plump the cushions to keep them even. Blot spills straight away with a clean, dry cloth, working from the outside in, and avoid soaking the fabric. For marks, use a cleaner suitable for upholstery fabric, test it on a hidden area first, and keep the reclining mechanism free of crumbs.

How durable are these sofas and how long do they last?

The hard-wearing woven fabric stands up well to daily use, and with regular care a well-made fabric sofa gives many years of everyday service. Durability depends on use and care; vacuuming regularly, dealing with spills promptly and keeping the sofa out of prolonged direct sunlight all help. Darker colours also keep looking fresh for longer by disguising everyday marks.

What is the difference between fabric, velvet, suede and leather sofas?

A woven fabric like Foster's is a hard-wearing, comfortable everyday weave. Velvet is a soft, plush pile with a sheen and natural shading. Suede is a brushed, soft-touch finish. Leather and leather-look materials are smooth and wipe clean. They're all different upholstery types, and we keep them clearly distinct so you know exactly what you're buying.

Which grey should I choose — light, mid or dark?

It depends on the look and how forgiving you need it to be. A dark grey is the most practical, disguising everyday marks better and giving a cosy, contemporary feel. A mid grey is the easy all-rounder that suits most rooms. A light grey keeps a space bright and airy but shows marks more, so it rewards a prompt cleaning routine.

What is your returns policy?

We offer a 14-day change of mind returns window from the day your sofa is delivered, on items returned in their original condition. To arrange a return, contact our team within those 14 days and we'll talk you through the next steps. This is in addition to your statutory rights, which cover goods that are faulty or not as described.

What happens if my sofa arrives damaged?

If your sofa arrives with any damage, contact our team as soon as possible — ideally within 48 hours — with a few photographs, and we'll arrange a repair, replacement or collection. It helps to check the sofa over on delivery before the team leaves where you can, and to test the powered recline.

Do I need to assemble the sofa myself?

There's very little to do. Our two-person team brings the sofa into your room and fits any feet or connects any sections on-site, so it's ready to use, and the powered seats simply plug into a mains socket. Larger sets arrive in pieces that link together, with no tools needed.

What guarantee comes with these sofas?

Every sofa is inspected before it leaves us, and your purchase is protected by your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which cover goods that are faulty or not as described. You also have our 14-day change of mind returns. For confirmation of any specific manufacturer guarantee on a particular model, please check the product page or ask our team before you order.
